The Practical WooWoo Moment that I would like to share is one of being in the right place at the right time.  This past weekend, my husband and I were running errands and suddenly noticed that our day had gotten away from us and that we needed to be at a Home Show Expo.  We debated as to whether or not we should go because it was already after 2pm and we were not sure how long the show was open etc.  We decided to go anyway. We arrived at the show about 2:50 and rushed to get tickets only to find that if waited 10 more minutes we would be able to enter for half price.  (This was a good thing considering we already paid $8 for parking and the tickets were normally $10 each.)  We waited the 10 minutes went in and did what we needed to do and had more than enough time to enjoy what there was of the expo.  We went through all that rushing only to realize that our timing was impeccable.  It is so great to begin to make these connections!

A Reader of Practical WooWoo Moments

These Practical WooWoo™ Moments are sent to us from a reader in San Diego.  The first one points to clarity of intention and being receptive to solutions coming in ways that you may not have expected.  The second one, points to being in the flow and being "in the right place at the right time" figuratively & quite literally!

My Practical WooWoo moment(s)...when I first thought of trying to remember a PW2 moment I mentally resisted "...I can't think of a single one!"  I was wrong.  Here's an example of the types of "moments" that I've been enjoying since I started noticing them:

  • After setting the work objective to identify a key internal business representative for a key system that my business organization wanted to pursue a teaming relationship with, I went weeks without a positive lead.  Then, one afternoon when I had actually taken the time to "ground" my intention to finally find the POC I needed, I received a phone call from a former Marine working at another company in town who was hoping I could link him up with the hiring manager for a position listed on our corporate web page.  When I got the gentleman's name the next day, I called him to make an introduction of my Marine buddy ~ and during the conversation realized that this is exactly the POC I had been looking for too!  In the end, by friend was hired, and I got the lead I needed to pursue the internal business relationship I had hoped for...Practical WooWoo at its BEST!

  • Similar to the story above, but not as dramatic if you don't panic about knowing how to get someplace that you've never been to for a meeting, like I do.  While traveling to Washington D.C. recently, I had made an appointment to meet first thing in the morning for breakfast with a couple of gentlemen to look at a prospective building lease within a facility that had just been built.  I had taken the "red-eye" from San Diego to Washington, and had exactly 60 minutes after landing to pick up my rental car and get to the breakfast meeting location.  I pulled a Map from the rental counter and realized that the area had changed significantly in the 10+ years since I had lived in the area and I was sure that I would never make my meeting on time.  Anyway, when I got to my car...I was pleasantly surprised to have it equipped with a GPS trip finder...I simply plugged in the info and followed it's flawless directions to make my meeting on time.  What makes this significant is that I honestly would not have taken the route suggested by the GPS...and surely would have been late by the info given to me after the fact on construction along my own route that would have caused me to "really get lost."

This Practical WooWoo™ Moment is a very simple, humorous example that demonstrates that help can come from any places at any time – especially when you are clear about what help it is that you want.

A Lesson in the Power of Clarity
:
I remember so clearly that I needed help with household cleaning. I was working 60-80 hour weeks, traveling back and forth to the east coast trying to win a big contract and I had barely enough time to see my home yet have time to clean it. I would run around the house and pick-up but an actual cleaning – really wasn’t happening. I was not inclined to have yet another service come and “clean”. Let’s just say that I did not feel that I got what I paid for. I remember being so frustrated one afternoon that I said to my husband, “I would like to have a trustworthy person come up and hand me their card and tell me they wanted to clean my house.” My husband smiled as he often does when I am ranting in frustration. Well, fast-forward to about three weeks later. I am at my local credit union and sitting, waiting my turn to speak with a bank specialist when an older non-English speaking woman hands me a business card which said, “House Cleaning I’ll Eliminate Your Hassle - I’ll Clean Your Castle”. I couldn't help but smile and take her card! I called her the next day and set up an appointment. This amazing woman worked with us until we moved away. I’ve never forgotten this event and neither has my husband! The power of clarity became ever so clear to me that day....no pun intended!
